Fellowship Bible Church
Location: Dallas, Texas
Approximate Square Footage: 135,000+
Fellowship Bible Church Dallas' new home is a renovation of an existing 1980's two story movie theater that originally contained a mall on the first level and eight movie screens on the second level. The interior of each floor was demolished and renovated to house the new rooms required to meet the growing needs of the church's program. A portion of the two story volume of the second floor was halved to make a third level.
The renovated facility will include a children's area, youth area, counseling area, kitchen area and fellowship hall on the first floor. The second floor housed a youth worship area and the main worship center featuring over a thousand seats. Office areas were added on the new third floor level.
DFW Consulting Group, Inc. was selected as the engineering consultant for the project to assist the overall design of the project by reusing existing mechanical equipment originally meant for movie theater applications and reworking the mechanical system to meet the needs of the church's vision, while staying within the budget of the project. Another challenge was to rework the existing electrical system, originally sized to handle the minimal load of a movie theater application, to accommodate the needs of a modern church's performance based electrical needs. This was accomplished through extensive redesign of the electrical systems layout and application.
Along with the architect and the other consultants, DFWCGI worked to produce a design that carried this church's vision toward the future.
